Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances

RoHS

The European RoHS (or Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances) directive (2011/65/EC) aims to limit the use of six hazardous substances:
- lead,
- mercury,
- cadmium,
- hexavalent chromium,
- polybrominated biphenyls (PBB),
- polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE).

EOZ products are all compliant with this directive.

REACH

European Community regulation n°1907/2006/CE dated 18/12/2006 concerning the registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction of chemical substances (REACH)

Our company is fully aware of the new obligations arising from the REACH regulation n°1907/2006/CE.

We have taken the necessary steps with our own suppliers to ensure that the articles they supply to us comply with this regulation.

Conflict Minerals

Legislation 1502 of the Dodd-Franck “Conflict Minerals” Act was passed in the United States in 2010, with the final version adopted on August 22, 2012.

The aim is to be able to determine the origin of 4 precious minerals (Tantalum, Tin, Tungsten, Gold) from mines originating in risk or conflict zones.

On March 5, 2014, a draft text targeting companies that import any of the aforementioned minerals into the Union was announced.

As a result, the company undertakes to adopt, widely disseminate and integrate into contracts and/or agreements with suppliers, the policy on responsible sourcing of minerals from conflict or high-risk zones.

Hong Kong Convention

The Hong Kong Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships is an international convention adopted in 2009 and the result of work between the member states of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

This convention covers :
- Control over the entire life cycle of a ship (design, construction, maintenance and dismantling). Each ship will have a recycling plan from the outset, and will be subject to inspections.
- Dismantling and recycling facilities will have to comply with provisions on recycling and the processes used to dismantle the ship.
